Manufacturing Execution

Ahearn & Soper designs Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) that can make your manufacturing operation more accurate and effective by reducing non-value added labour. Our systems

MES Software typically contains 6 modules:

  • The Work Order module allows the administrator to create and maintain the customer's order status. It also checks and reserves materials needed for the job.
  • The Purchase Order (PO) module looks up all necessary data like supplier name, address, material description, and cost. It them generates Purchase Order(s) needed for the job. The PO can then be faxed or emailed to the raw material supplier(s).
  • The Receiving module allows the receiver to use an RF hand held terminal to receive materials, and automatically updates the inventory in real time. It also closes the corresponding Purchase Order.
  • The Work-In-Process module also allows operators to use portable hand held terminals to record what materials are used for a work order or to record job costing information by time stamping the man-hours spent at each workstation.
  • The Shipping module allows the shipper to use a hand held terminal to scan outgoing finished goods and the system then closes the corresponding work order.
  • The Report module generates reports on current inventory, monthly purchases, and monthly sales.

The MES software can be run on any PC connected to a network and user access can be restricted to only pertinent modules.

Hooking an MES into an enterprise-wide system requires very tight integration between systems that are as varied as order entry systems, product configurators and planning and control systems, as well as sales force and delivery systems. Each software component in an integrated enterprise should not only interface with the other ones but also share information and communicate in a common format. We can help you bridge that gap!

We can integrate software, networks, protocols and languages that often bear little resemblance to each other and require layers of middleware and connectivity tools to help you manage, initiate, respond to and report on each of the primary production activities of your operation.
